Morocco's MAP TV becomes the newest member to join ENEX
Luxembourg, June 2019: The ENEX partnership is growing again, with a new member joining from Morocco. MAP TV, the newly launched TV channel of Agence Marocaine de Presse (Moroccan News Agency) has set their foot squarely in the ENEX club by representing the strategically important country in North Africa.
MAP TV, is headquartered in Rabat, with more than 200 offices around the world, covering key events and breaking news. The television news channel is a new project by MAP agency which has witnessed a huge expansion in coverage and workforce over the past six years.
Adrian Wells, Managing Director of ENEX, acknowledged: ‘’ENEX has traditionally been weaker in Africa than other continents but we are now working to correct that. Signing MAP is a huge step forward in our strategy to be a fully global news agency.”
MAP’s General Director, Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, said: ‘’We join ENEX for the idea of sharing. Giving and receiving in our profession is a principle that fosters institutions and allows them to be in a process of professional excellence and to be at the service of viewers by enabling them to take advantage of the best in the field of information. It's also an occasion to compare our professional experience with others and so offers us a unique opportunity for mutual improvement.”
Moreover, he adds: “MAP is a real window on Morocco. The country is changing at a great speed. Politically, socially and culturally, Morocco is moving. MAP with its legitimacy, its network, its expertise and its professional journalists can contribute to give the keys to understand this unique and singular movement in the region.’’
ENEX’s global membership base now reaches more than 75 channels. The Middle East and North Africa region is now served by multiple members and on-going talks with several others.
Traditionally, ENEX partners with commercial broadcasters but MAP TV defines itself as ‘’a news web TV’’ service. It signals a move to broaden ENEX membership to include the new generation of internet supported channel and digital publishers.
