The Role
Oxfam OGB is looking for an experienced Media & Communications Manager who has a passion for raising the voices of communities living in crisis. You will be a creative self-starter who has proven experience in managing media for a large organisation.
Our role will require a range of skills and experience.
Essential
- Experience working on communications or media for an NGO or in journalism.
- Experience in managing large amounts of information, and ability to summarise and make sense of it quickly.
- Experience of writing clear, compelling communications products including press releases, articles, opinion pieces, Q&As, case studies, factsheets/briefings etc
- Experience in managing risk and organisational reputation,
- Experience in collecting human interest case studies, including photography and basic filming.
- Experience in managing staff and supporting their development through coaching and empowering management style
- Extremely strong interpersonal and negotiating skills, enjoying building and maintaining a wide range of relationships
- High levels of organisation and planning skills, understanding how to plan and implement a strategy and capable of working independently
- High level of verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on a clear and direct, easy to read written style.
- Good knowledge of traditional and social media, knowledge management, internal information sharing systems, and of the relevant communications environment and programme context.
- A positive, confident and outgoing attitude.
- Ability to work effectively and calmly in a high-pressure environment and to prioritise and manage assignments in a timely fashion
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team as well as remotely with global teams across different time zones and with cultural differences
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
