GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Senior Media Adviser will be based in Juba, reporting to the Chief of Party. The position requires travel to remote project sites and a high level of resourcefulness, teamwork, and problem-solving while operating according to Internews core values
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy:
- Develop a media strategy to inform Internews programming in support of accurate, balanced, objective, impartial journalism. This media strategy will include content production, dissemination, training and will ensure all supported content meets international quality standards.
- Devise and implement a wide range of innovative activities supporting media development across South Sudan, with particular reference to sustainability and resilience.
- Explore non-traditional media initiatives (direct engagement, CWC, etc.) to further program objectives.
- Establish and maintain close relationships with donors, media houses, journalists, traditional authorities, youth and women leaders, NGOs, and CBOs.
- Liaise closely with the M&E department to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of Internews activities through trip reports, weekly reports, and activity evaluation forms as required.
- Monitor and compile internal reports on violations of press freedom and attacks against journalists.
- Assist the COP with donor liaison activities and identifying new donor opportunities.
