Chief of News and Media Section Organizational Setting and Work Relationships The Chief of News and Media Section reports to the Head of Service and directly supervises staff in the Section. S/he works closely with the Chief of Crisis Communications, Chief of Multimedia Content Section and the Chief of Social Media Section. S/he is the lead focal point at headquarters for UNHCR's global network of communications professionals and has extensive contact with a wide variety of internal and external audiences ranging from media personnel, public-at-large, diplomats, scholars as well as well as staff from other UN organizations in the context of disseminating information and gathering support for UNHCR's activities. All UNHCR staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description. They do so within their delegated authorities, in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR which includes the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions as well as relevant accountability frameworks. In addition, staff members are required to discharge their responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core, functional, cross-functional and managerial competencies and UNHCR's core values of professionalism, integrity and respect for diversity. |
