On December 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's passing, the Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony is held in Oslo City Hall. The laureates in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and in economic sciences receive their awards at the ceremony.

The Nobel Peace Prize was given to Nihon Hidankyo, a group of atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki prefectures for their work to eradicate nuclear weapons.
